Seeing so many of the present and past families of St. Jude School who attended Mass and the Open House on Sunday was a wonderful witness to all of the best of St. Jude School. It was wonderful to meet so many prospective families and children who came to visit our school guided by our Student Ambassadors. I believe God was smiling broadly to see the work of many coming together to spread the good news of our school.
We will have a unique beginning to our school week as Second and Third grade students work together on Monday and Tuesday of this week in the third grade classroom. The students will listen and discuss a children’s book on the Psalms and Proverbs, then learn about the armor of God.
They will read about student inventions in 2015 in a Time for Kids magazine, and animal adaptations in a Scholastic News Weekly. They will read about communities, and four special celebrations from different countries around the world. Students will work with partners on STEM projects as well. They will challenge each other in a game of strategy that originated in India.
Third grade students will complete their study of the Sacraments of Service. We will review the key information we read and discussed in the Chapter. There will be a quiz on the information in Chapter Thirteen on Friday of this week.
In Math third grade students will explore multiplying by ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands which we were not able to complete last week. They will work with estimated products. There will be a quiz on the multiplication facts in the three’s and six’s on Wednesday, and the seven and eighth's table one Friday.
Students will learn about the impact humans have on the environment in this week’s reading selection and their Science textbooks as well.
On Friday the school will celebrate First Friday Mass in the morning, and later in the last period of the day students’ will be recognized and honored for their efforts and achievements in the second marking period at the Student Recognition Ceremony.
Looking forward to an exciting week!
